After lots and lots and lots of shooting and traveling throughout May and June, we are finally able to start catching up on our editing and blogging. So, here is an exciting post for you. We were fortunate enough to go to New Orleans to photograph Laura and Will. This was our first time ever to NOLA and it was more then we expected. Just an amazing city, filled with a sense of quaint european charm, good food, and genuine southern hospitality. We will share our personal travel photos in the next post. But for now we just love sharing this engagement shoot. We are so excited for the wedding this September in the beautiful Temecula Wine Country. :)
We had the pleasure of shooting this small but sweet wedding of our great friends last February, our first wedding of 2011. We were so excited to get the chance to shoot so many portraits of them, we had a blast! The wedding was just after valentine's day so there were so many cute accents of hearts all over the wedding and beautiful florals by The Little Branch. We also shot some REALLY expired Kodak Portra VC, it caused that cool purple color casting on some of the frames, just for fun. Enjoy the photos.
Okay- this was a good one!! The longest wedding day we ever shot. Fourteen hours of pure fun! We have never seen so much dancing in our lives, those Armenians sure know how to party. It was colorful, beautiful, traditional, crazy fun, and so cool. I just love her dress with the all the lace scallops! We love Mel and argam (aka Argamel). I am sure you remember there amazing engagement photos here too, but feast your eyes on this party!
We are so excited to finally share this wedding with you. We were so honored that Alison chose us to document her and Duncan's beautiful and classic Marine Wedding. We absolutely loved every moment of it. From the bits of rain to the beautiful decor and traditional marine customs, to trusting us to capture some classic style portraits and our fun quirky ones too. It all was gorgeous. Of course a shout out to Meg of La Partie Events for the amazing flowers as always. The whole wedding was at the Grand Del Mar, which was amazing to shoot at. Also Thank you to Snippet and Ink for featuring the wedding today. This shot of Alison texting with both of the make up artists kills me. I just love it.
The next shot is Erin and I's absolute favorite shot of the day. We are so excited when we capture that one moment when the couple is as happy and carefree as a 10 year old. How Cute are they below!
Here is the third engagement shoot we did last month up in the bay area. This one started at the Bay Bridge and ended at the Golden Gate bridge. We thought using the more iconic SF back drops would work well for Sarah and Jacob since this was both of their first trip to the bay area. We are super excited to shoot their wedding in Michigan this fall and hope Jacob might bring out his skateboard for some shots in their wedding getup too. :)
This was the first of three engagement sessions we did last month in San Francisco, the other two to follow soon behind this one. We are sooo looking forward to Gabby and Nick's wedding in Chicago in June!!!
We are so excited to share this wedding today. It was an absolutely beautiful day from start to finish! Not only are they a super rad couple, the wedding was filled with the florals of the ever lovely Meg, videography by Curtis, awesome paper products from Wiley Valentine, sweet Persian traditions at the ceremony, and fantastic family and guests. Thank you Style Me Pretty for the feature Here.
Now that our life seems to finally feel back on track and all of our 2010 weddings are done and delivered, we have had a chance to evaluate our work flow for 2011. This equals more time for us, more time for life, and more fun photos for our clients. We are doing more experimenting, buying loads of fun "write off-able" toys, and really making it a point to enjoy ALL aspects of our business. To start we have been adding back in more film. We aren't switching completely to film as we LOVE digital. We just both love medium format cameras (we are still debating which one we want to buy), Holgas, and polaroids. We want to make more effort to stay creative in our approach, knowledgeable on the benefits of using film in certain situations, and make sure we always approach everyone's wedding in a way that brings out the individuality and beauty of each couple. We feel that by shooting with different cameras and different formats will really keep us on our toes, enhance our style and ascetic, utilized the best of both digital and film, and keep all our clients weddings constantly fresh and lovely. Even though we have about a million blog posts to do still from our past weddings/ shoots in 2010, that we are soooo excited to share, we wanted to show another peek into the first 2011 wedding we shot. These were shot with 6+ year old expired Kodak 160VC hence the purple color edging (we think:) ) on a Mamiya 645. Now, we more then likely won't use expired film very often, so it can be more predictable, it can sure do some rad stuff.
Stayed tuned for some awesome weddings of 2010 past and more from this lovely.
We always are amazed how different all the weddings we shoot are and how much fun we have at each. From the city weddings, to the backyard weddings, to the more traditional sophisticated weddings. All of them each represent the couple and the love they share for each other. We love to capture the story of each in a way that truly represents their day. We adore this wedding! Thank you to style me pretty for the feature.
Part one of our photos taken at the HITCHED EVENT. It's all about the rad details and cool people brought together in one place for a wedding showcase like no other. Part Two to follow: the fashion show, synchronized swimmers, and the Dance off.
There are some pics that every time I see them I smile, this next one just kills me each time. :)
Every bride needs to just stop and absorb everything that is going on... just like Erin below.
Our 1980's dance photo.
The most fun weddings we photograph always have a guest with a tie on their head. Just sayin'
A lovely day and a lovely wedding! :)
Looking forward to sharing this wedding. So Fun and so beautiful.
As we keep the editing going and work through the day and night trying to catch up, we get excited to share everything we shot. This is one of them! Almost done with it but here is a lovely sneak of Jenn and Matt's wedding at Linecourt Vineyards in Solvang. We Just loved the bridesmaids dresses. :)
Love these two! Rosemary had me in stitches all day and especially while taking her getting ready shots. Micah is so super chill, that them together made this wedding a breeze to shoot and so much fun for us. The wedding took place at Pomona College in Claremont. With the beautiful help of Sharlene Griffith the decor and day was just perfect.
This was a great shoot down in San Jaun Capistrano on a beautiful day. They share our same names so of course we had fun with them.:) We wish we were shooting their wedding but alas they are getting married to far away. :( However with this couple you know it will be a blast! congrats guys!
SO excited to finally post this wedding!! We just adore Kellie and Chris so much, how could you not, just look at them.... And then you throw in florals by Meg at La Partie Events and you have one gorgeous affair. The couple got ready at the Hotel Maya in long beach, an amazing Ceremony at the Byzantine Church in Anaheim and then the perfect reception took place at the old Redondo Beach Library. With sweet drawings by the groom, I also help design and letterpress their invitations. You can see more of them here at my other blog. Love this wedding!
This next shot has to be my favorite shot ever from a ceremony. Erin took it. So beautiful. Look at the light coming in from the windows. And the dress!
